That's non-mainstream in opinion and may even require a higher trust factor before purchase. A few thoughts
A. Be sure you're reaching your intended market (do you know them and what motivates them to buy?).
B. Be sure you site efuses confidence and trustworthiness.
C. Be sure you have calls to action on the article pages.
D. It sounds like people are using your website as a resource but then leaving. Maybe an exit survey for folks that land on article pages but don't actually place anything in the cart would be a good idea?
