You'll have trouble gaining affiliates I think with an in house program.

I'd look at a network - you won't have to implement tracking / process payments / spend time recruiting affiliates - and best of all the affiliates will know they will get paid for sales so will be more inclined to sign up and promote you.

But as everyone else has said - they only understand one method of payment...
