I could not find any previous discussion on this topic, so I am tossing it out there.

What is the opinion of putting the price of a product in the page title, e.g Blue Widget, $14.99, or Blue Widgets starting at $14.99?

The big advantage I see, as long as the page title is a reasonable length, is that the price would appear immediately and may draw more attention. While a possible disadvantage if your prices are high, I see an advantage if your prices are competitive, especially since it may not appear in the text below the title in the SERP. I do have to admit, I have not seen this done, but that does not make it any less a good idea.
