Ebay, Google check-out, Amazon . . Is there a "wall" - an unbreachable wall - between the service and other interests? Wouldn't it be something if the aggregate ecommerce data was being exploited for some other profitable purpose? Has anyone read the various "service agreements" and do they hint at whether your sales data may some day be used in a way that works against your interests? Say . . sales trends showing an item is getting hot . . and next thing you know Amazon, an Ebay "partner", whomever . . is having a "big sale"? Such services will be viabile ONLY IF there are certain inviolate agreements connected to the sales data. What is the status quo when it comes to the use of sales data? I'd really like to know "where the sales data goes" and "who is able to access that data".
