@all the words:
- stop trying to pay, help out here is for free. Surely there are some -al lot I guess- out here that do this kind of stuff as a job/business, but $5 or free advertising means nothing to them at all.
- stop pointing to URLs, in this community every established member all has a ton of URLs they promote, if we can't talk without mentioning URLs, we can't talk at all as we'll get instantly swamped with spammers. If you need a URL in your code: use www.example.com it's the only accepted one.
As for posting code: there are guidelines for that, read them, you obviously have not turned it into the minimum that exhibits the problem.
Obviously this was entirely a waste of time
Maybe there is wasted time indeed, but I'd venture you caused it ... you enter a community and try to set their ways to your needs. It'll never work, no community accepts that of any newcomer. The right way to enter it -and be welcomed- is to check out the ways of the community and try to adhere to those (sometimes unwritten - but out here they're spelled out-) rules as best as you can. Sure it'll take a bit more of your time, but for the community as a whole it saves time.
Now a hover effect: I'd never try to do that with javascript. I'd always use CSS for that, much easier.
If you get broken images: looks like either the image is not there, or the site serving it is not letting you have it in the context that you're trying to retrieve it.
Validators can be found online: e.g. at: [validator.w3.org...]
[and before you ask: that's an established site, not a promotion at all - at first it might be confusing but stick around and you'll quickly learn the difference.
