No. We don't have any problems with sites working on iPads or ianything other than the occasional tweak like all browsers need. I find the best way is to use an actual device and no emulator does a good job of it.
Going to the Apple store is something I've done before.
Then you've never used an Apple product before. The only one I own is an iPad which I got for Christmas when they first came out but my son owns everything Apple, as does everyone at his college. They do everything with them.

Apple Macs are Unix, too, which is a double plus plus.
