Hi,
My personal opinion is that if it is simple HTML code to improve your web page presentation, there will be no effect on ranking.

As tedster said (also Matt Cutts as well) ranking do not depend on one single factor. There are about 200 factors (I don't know all) that play role to rank your website in google. But a thumbnail rule is to keep your web page as lighter as possible.
