Apart from using HTML 3.2 for a brief period in the very early days I have never seen a need to code in anything other than HTML 4.01, and I still don't. The XHTML wars were a distraction that I managed to completely avoid. I had recently started thinking about HTML 5, but this new development has made me scratch it off the list of things to do in 2011.
