Thanks for the link. Just to share my experience - I have used BrowserShots for years which I find good, especially for free. Adobe BrowserLab is also very good but won't be free for long.
Actually these days I am so used to dealing with cross browser issues that I know what to be careful of and what to avoid. So I just have a windows pc with all of the common browsers installed (including a virtual machine running ie6) and do testing locally. I find that this sort of testing allows me to iron out most issues and saves me from trawling through every combination or operating system and browser.
Browsers are all different so i'm not too worried about getting a site looking identical in all of them, I just want to make sure I catch all of the major issues. I can live with slight differences and it seems so can my clients.
