XHTML2 is effectively dead, so that's one less language to worry about :) HTML5 is an evolution of HTML4/XHTML1. Most people just refer to it as HTML5, but it will be available in HTML and XML versions. You can safely ignore it until its new features have widespread browser support and you want to use them. Keep using XHTML1. When/if you want to use new features in (X)HTML5 just change your doctype. XML syntax is valid in the HTML version of HTML5, so in the future you should be able to upgrade to HTML5 or XHTML5 pages without problems.
