with css, it's easy to change layout on your page once you have everything set up. check out [csszengarden.com...] to see how different the same page can look just by changing the css.
another point for css-designs is accessibility. your source code is structured by feature, not by design. you can put your navigation to the top or at the bottom, just as you see fit, you're actually free to do things you can't achieve with tables.
