Not sure if ad blocking can block just a static affiliate link or banner, but if so, perhaps that's a big part of the problem. Did ad blocking just take off in 2012 or what? Not using pop ups either, just an occasional banner or link in an article.

The links appear to be tracking clicks, but zip on the sales. It would lead me to believe either the program was intentionally hobbled or traffic quality is much worse in 2012. Our core sales have also suffered some, but not like the affiliate stuff, so that sounds like poorly targeted traffic post Panda and Penguin.
