I've been running a site as a hobby for around 4 years, but I'm now struggling to make it worth my time as I run my own business and time is very precious to me. I'm therefore trying to turn my website into a profitable venture, obviously the more I can make the better - but I hope I can at least make enough to make it worth running!
My site gets around 10,000 uniques a Month and 125,000 pageviews (sometimes up to 150,000). These might seem low for advertising, but it's a very niche website catering to collectors and fans of action figures from a popular television show - so in that respect the numbers seem quite high to me.
It must be noted that a forum is part of the website - contributing just over 1/3 of the visitors I would say.
So what, from your experiences, would be the best move forward for me? I think I need CPM style advertising, I don't get the return on clicks due to the ratio between visitors and pageviews.
Should I look for an agency of some sort (if so have you any thoughts?) or should I sell adverts myself? If so how should I go about that and how much should I charge?
On the time I put into the site, in the UK, I would like to sort of be making £500 a Month (at about the least). Is this achievable?
Thank you so much for your time - I'm just getting so stuck with where to go from here! Looking forward to your thoughts!
