Page is a not externally linkable

I have a moderately sized site with a few thousand pages, that is starting to rank reasonable well in Google, but I have absolutely no listing whatsoever in ask.co.uk or teoma. The site has recently been listed in dmoz (but not yet appeared in the google directory) and has incoming links from sites that are listed in Teoma, but still nothing. I am considering paying to be added to ask.co.uk using the signup form on their site for £40, but I have two questions. 1 - Is this worth it, or am I likely to be spidered pretty soon anyway due to my recent dmoz addition? 2 - More importantly, given I am submitting just one URL, will that mean that is the only page I get in there, or will that be sufficient to kick the spider into life and go get the rest of the site? (Sorry if this has been answered before, I did try to find the information!)
Hi,
