I got the book a few days ago (I had pre-ordered it on Amazon) and have read the first three chapters -- about what search engines were like before Google.
It's definitely interesting reading, and is nostalgic rather than anything "mind-blowing", so far. The style is fresh and anecdotal, and there are some good interviews, such as with the guy who almost single-handedly invented AltaVista (and how bitter he is now!).
John's book hasn't made me think any differently about search, or the importance of search (yet?) but I suppose he's "preaching to the converted" in my case, and the case of many WW members.
