On: "But each case is different, so while they may be all asking the same questions, they are doing so in a different context, so a site search will not always provide adequate results." You are on the money here. "Maybe you have learned all you can from this forum and it's time to move on - Im sure there are many others in your position who have learned more than they need from here - but most of them hang around to give some of it back." In relation to my field maybe. Grandpa told me you need to learn something new every day, when you stop learning you are either dead or a fool. I am looking for something new to learn. Off: "Keep in mind, the majority of people who arrive here for the first time have searched for a solution to their problem and this site was the answer. A forum is there for people to ask specific questions - it's not a library." It has been asked and complained about several times, that forum members not post the same things time and time again. Example look at merged threads particularly in the google section. If I have a question, in most cases, about something I look in the archives and then ask if there is no answer. I am certian I dont have all the knowledge I need to be a superman in the Webmaster area of life. I know this to be true. I am looking for something a forum that is for those who need more than just the basics.
Marketing Guy you have a few points, but on some you are off.
"So what? You are prepared to post asking if there other forums you could go to, moan about this one then not bother to offer feedback or suggestions?" Nope. In fact I would point someone here if they needed to learn the basics or if they needed something that the particular forum did not provide. If someone needs something I point them in the right direction not hide it in a condescending manner. In most cases I dont see how much havoc I can cause with the intention of being evil.
"Perhaps you may consider for a second, that it is not the forum that has become tired, but it is in fact you that has become tired of the forum?" I have grown tired of the same thing being posted 300 times in one month. Look at the google forum and get back to me about this one. I am not the only one either. If someone asks and I know something I will pipe up and give the answer or what has worked for me in the past 3 years as a webmaster.
