Welcome Wolf to Webmaster World and to the European Forum. I am very happy to see another Russian join us here and hope that you will be followed by many more. I am sorry that I was not at hand to greet you sooner, but I have been out travelling for a couple of days. I hope you will like this "University of Search Engine Optimization" and that you will profit from the knowledge that can be gained here.

>Should I believe it? [Alexa statistics]

Excellent question. Alexa statistics are based on the behaviour of Alexa users who have downloaded their software and installed it on their computers. Only experienced surfers with an interest in searching and in the Internet and with a very good command of the English language are likely to do that. So, I would say that the Alexa statistics for Russia represent the elite, not the average Russian surfer.

I am sure that some Russian University or other will - sooner or later - provide us with excellent statistics on Internet usage in you country. Either that or one of the major international survey companies like MMXI or Nielsen will start to measure the rapidly growing Russian Internet scene. Until then, I think a good guess is that Yandex is the totally dominant force in Russia and that the volume figures presented in the first post in this discussion probably give a good overall picture.

If you want to know more about Alexa, you will get 30 hits if you use WebmasterWorld's site search function. It has been discussed here quite extensively.

PS. Any signs of spring in Tula yet?
