Yandex does not require local domain, only local language and according to the info supplied by Urus_Hyby and others they have 60% of the market. So a dot-com in Russian would work well for Russia.

In the Baltic states, Poland and the Balkans, it is the leading of the national engines you want. We have nearly complete info on Poland (use local go-between to get a .pl domain and get into Onet and WP), there is good info on Lithuania and Latvia, but nothing yet on Estonia.

The people who have posted in the respective threads can probably help you, so why not send them an e-mail and ask? Translations would be much less expensive if made by a local on the spot. You could also ask the question in the discussions for these countries. Some subscribe to e-mail notifications and there are numerous 'lurkers' out there who will see what you write.
