If DMOZ needs more editors, why is it so hard for well intentioned and qualified people to become editors. Who approves editors for DMOZ and could they be hurting DMOZ rather than "helping DMOZ"? Almost all of the categories that I am involved with have too many outdated sites and not enough relevant quality sites.

DMOZ is definitely falling behind and this will cause them to become more and more irrelevant.
