I don't understand why AOL clings to DMOZ but fails to manage it properly (or manage it at all). I can certainly understand why they might not want to pump resources into a non-revenue operation, but why haven't they found a way to make a graceful exit in the last few years? Whatever good PR benefit they got from taking it on has been outweighed by negative publicity about their continued lack of attention to even essential operational details.
