Instead, concentrate on quality link exchanges and buy 3 or 4 links in established sites. My rules for success are: Don't pay more than £50 per link for 12 months Monitor ALL results Dump any underperforming advertising at once! Before renewing links/adverts - try and negotiate a 20 - 30% reduction in cost. If the directory/site refuses, then threaten to pull the ad. You might get laughed at or something, but you must pull the ad so they get the seriousness. It does work a lot of the time, and remember a lost customer is another lost payment. This works better than you think, so do it! If an advert works well - then roll it out in a bigger way. Buy a larger ad, or more smaller ones. Google Adwords is great for experimenting with ad copy, and monitoring. So make up 3 ads, and test em on Google first, cos if they work on Google - they'll work elsewhere and probably get the same level of interest.
Bears is correct, don't waste valuable time on directories that aren't really interested in serving you. It's just a pointless exercise when you can get other good links elsewhere with the time you would have spent mucking about with dmoz.
