Its been a whole week since that last batch of whinging about DMOZ, so guess its time for the next thread....

Not even close to being true. Where did you get this information from or did you just make it up?

....so why then have Google just start using DMOZ descriptions in the SER display? .... seems to me that Google have put an increased importance on DMOZ.
