Just remember, <=IE8 does not recognize the @media rule.
Fortunately most @media rules are made to detect things other than browsers. So for a few happy minutes you can forget that MSIE exists :)

Indeed. Most of that vast list is for telephones. Those can already be filtered-out by max-width testing. (ymmv. I say 720px, with a couple of minor tweaks at lower levels.)
This kind of thing in particular
seems like way overkill. How likely is it you'll pick up a browser by mistake if you say \bvx\d\d\b instead?
The "tabletcheck" function alone is only two lines.
