I've not moved to Windows 8 yet, still on 7. However, that doesn't mean Windows 8 isn't any good. Thinking about it, I use the start button on Windows 7 about once a day. Everything else I do is pinned to the task bar. I think as long as I can have quick links to the software I actually use, then I'll be happy. It's only the OS, at the end of the day.
It's change, and not everybody likes change.
I bet if they never had a Start button, and instead had it the way it is now in Win 8, then suddenly introduced the Start button with no other option, people would be, "OMG they're slowing me down!"
