---- Microsoft radically overhauls license agreements for Windows 8

Fine, it's licensed not sold, we get it.

We've been getting how it was licensed since they first put Basic-80 out on CP/M and Level II Basic in the TRS-80, big whoop.

They need to radically overhaul a lot more as Windows is about the only OS people pay for these days as the OS (Linux) comes free on every other computing device on the planet unless you get stuck with something from MS. They still have the lion's share of desktop computers but they do NOT have the lion's share of computing devices anymore, far from it.

Transparency would be nice. Other software that is licensed at least let's you look at the source code these days. Especially for us programmers that have the skills to fix things when it crashes or doesn't do what we want, like we can with virtually anything in Open Source.

Oh well.

DISCLOSURE: I was a die-hard career Windows programmer from 2.x up to Win XP so I don't have any axe to grind. I just fell in love with the concept of FREE software and Open Source when working outside the confines of a large corporation that used to buy everything I needed. The software world is evolving and MS isn't.
