That's interesting. I wonder why they made that decision.

My best guess would be, that they are tired of the Operating System business and want that people switch to other OS. But they don't want to admit it for some reason and that's why they built Windows 8 as a last attempt to scare the last remaining hardcore Windows users away.

Seriously - Windows 8 looks like its designed for consumers only - passive users that only want to look at what others have made. And if Microsoft continues on this path, it will be mostly things that others made on Linux PCs or Macs in the not to far future.
