I find Facebook works for me rather as people here describing for Twitter.
Got a twitter account, posted - nada; indeed few followers and not many followed, but found facebook used a lot by many people I know [unlike twitter], and I indeed see breaking news etc etc. Don't hear anyone talking about twitter, unlike facebook.
So depends partly where you are, circles you're in.
