If you take into consideration the purported number of fake Facebook accounts, why should this surprise anyone. Where there is a way to make a buck, there is a will, or tweet in this case.
The downside is that since things like this are generally under reported, the general public does not realize that so many statistics are skewed and really should not be trusted.
I once read that half of all statistics are in error (think about it).
