The ads, which Twitter calls “promoted products,” will begin appearing within the flow of users’ messages in late March.
~ As a user I would hate this move if the tweets are not CLEARLY labeled as paid.
~ As a webmaster I'm not likely going to want to display feeds when they may be stuffed with competitor ads (which I don't get paid for).
~ As an advertiser - it's about time.
My worry would be a mass exodus of celebrity users. Imagine Nike's feed being stuffed with Reebok tweets etc. I hope the gamble pays off but Twitter wasn't without it's spam problem before this.
