I'm beginning to get requests from my website visitors for a Facebook fanpage.
Cool:) Did they tell you why? I hope that doesn't come off wrong, but before setting one up, do you know what you are going to do with it? (How you want to use it to do what you want?) Personally, I think this is really the more important part of the equation; setting one up takes five minutes, using it effectively is another story...
the big Facebook "F" icon at the top of the site which links you to their fanpage, which you can "like". Other sites have actual "like" buttons over each article on their website. Some have a combo of the two.
One warning: Facebook has an affinity for confusingly similar names for their 'plugins', when you see a 'Like' BUTTON, the surfers are LIKING a website/product NOT on FB.... when you see a 'Like' BOX,surfers are LIKING a FB PAGE on FB. Big difference, but they are not black and white.
how should I integrate this with my site?
You may need a little coding help to get things going, if you aren't familiar with programming, but then it is mainly a cut and paste thing.
I'd start here:
