I have to thoroughly agree with beggers though I was never discouraged by people being mean about my repeating a question - I just asked them to kindly point out where that thread is and how did they find it. If I find a question posted that I know was answered in another thread previously I don't (usually) bother do much else than point out the other thread, quite possibly indicate the search method that would find it, and ask the person to post back if they didn't manage to fix it using the thread(s) I indicated.
If your post doesn't lead to an answer then your post is noise, wasted time of yours and ours - polite (kind) noise I am happy enough to see but "That is answered in another thread, why don't you search properly before posting" is just pathetic unkindness indicating unintelligent weakness to me, just add "Here is one thread, here is a search that finds more" just some few keystrokes more makes it worth posting.
To the unkind: That's not smart at all.
To the seekers of knowledge: Ignore the ignorant.
To the kind: Keep up the good work, you are the salt of the earth (or at least the forums and boards!)
