Moderators of forums should not discredit somebody
There's a flip side to this ... we shouldn't interpret it as a personal insult when someone else has a different perspective on something we've posted.
If someone challenges something we've said, and we respond well, they have not discredited us, they have handed us a golden opportunity to demonstrate our competence and increase our own credibility.
Smart people will capitalize on those opportunities.
