I like all sorts of modern designs, in the right setting, but this is a technical site and I think the stripped back look is appropriate and successful.

There may be a few minor details here and there, notably the small icon graphics and logo, but the colour scheme, layout and basic functionality should stay im(design graduate)o.

Another thing is I think the outdated look actually helps deter the trollish users you may find on other sites, thankfully WebmasterWorld is very direct and to the point, I'd hate to see it descend into the battleground some sites are.
