Advertising is a reality of the modern internet. So I would say that advertising is absolutely fine, although if that could be used to partly subsidise the current cost of subsriptions, that would be great!

Agree with previous comments about it not slowing down the site, there is nothing more annoying than waiting for ads to load before being able to read the contents of a page.
