I went from XP to Win 7 and I love it. With XP I had to use the recovery disk to reinstall the OS about twice per year due to significant performance issues (slow boot times and the like). I've been using my new laptop with Win 7 for over a year now and it performs just as well as it did when I bought it. Can't say much about Vista as I haven't used it.
