Easy. Right click on free taskbar space -> Properties -> Taskbar buttons and choose "Never combine". Welcome back to XP world.

First thing I did and it made no difference.

What I mean is if I click on a Quick Launch icon, the icon expands to show that software icon as an open window, rather than grouping it to the right with other open windows like previous.

Its ok now anyway, a small code snippet I found has sorted all my problems and its exactly how I want it.
