Frank_Rizzo, honestly I am not a fan of Microsoft and Vista's initial release was a nightmare but with the latest service pack Vista is not bad and Windows 7 is truly much faster, more reliable, more secure (for now at least), compared to Windows XP or Vista. With a SSD Windows 7 is blazingly fast, it handles SSDs much better than Vista and XP handles them poorly. Networking is also faster and more reliable on Windows 7 vs Vista and XP (and that includes internet access reliability). In terms of needing the latest CPU I'll agree with you there for most people that won't need it or even see much benefit, but for those who do video editing or a lot of work in Photoshop a fast cpu, lot of ram, and SSD on Windows 7 is like night and day compared to a 4 year old Windows XP box!
