If I've read this right, they are going to have some kind of public vote on each to decide the final one? If so I immensely dislike the idea of using some kind of open peer group to decide the company identity. Folk in their brand management team must be trembling - some of the 30 ideas will be weak, and perversely popular. Like a giant focus group, it should be treated with a giant pinch of salt.
Or have they already chosen it? And are just doing a 'Google logo theme' thing to get some press? I'm a bit confuddluated by the whole thing - and that's an issue; lack of clear communication.
