Yes the UK is mucking up Microsoft as far as Bing is concerned and the same goes for Europe to a lesser degree. And this European market is huge, massive.

The problem, or maybe the reality, is that the US is missing the point, it's not about Google, it's about Microsoft. In the UK Microsoft is the equivalent of the devil. And don't forget that Microsoft dwarfs Google financially. So, the name Microsoft in the UK is a big turn off. The UK always supports the small guy (whatever their particular market share of search) and Microsoft is historically bad here, Google to us is neutral.

I'm from the UK and I desperately want competition to Google but definitely never, ever from the likes of Microsoft. If they win the search market they have everything. And for the record, leave out the huge recent Apple profits - three years into the future and they will be in serious decline.
