I use hotmail as my main personal correspondence email. I've had that account for 10+ years and - notwithstanding a bit of downtime last year - it's been reliable.

If you care about the hotmail domain being untrendy, then your priorities are askew.

Their spam filter is the best of any I have ever used. I get more spam leaking into every one of my other accounts, even though my hotmail is the one I use most often at forums, mailing lists, contests, raffles, etc.
