I think you'll find that although in

Standard video nomenclature, "p" stands for progressive.

is indeed true ..in Youtube "p" means "pixels" , hence the "quality" on Youtube goes from 720p HD through 480p to 360p to 240p ..and on certain items 1080p HD*

*Often referred to as "True HD"..or "Full HD"..

<= Old enough to remember progressive 405 and later 625 lines TV ( even still have some ) and the Woodentops, Bill and Ben etc in black and white..
