I'd forget forums if you're trying to get strong links. These days, a forum that will allow new members to drop links to their sites is probably not rated highly by Google.
And as for blogs, most of these use 'nofollow' for comments so you're unlikely to get much if anything from that activity either.
A good principle with links is that the easier they are to get, the less they are probably worth.
Travel can be very competitive and you're going to need to stand out.
You say you're new to this, so before you do anything that might harm your site or waste your time, I'd take some time to learn about the type of links that Google will hopefully reward and about the type that they will ignore or even punish you for.
Reading through the Library should give you an idea of link-building as people here believe it should be practised; things to do, things to avoid, and hopefully ideas and inspiration that will get you started.
Once you start reading you'll notice that most of it is based around content that people find useful, interesting, amusing, contentious - anything that stimulates a response.
