Yes, basically you want to approach related subject websites. Google likes the targeted approach.
Is your entire site food related? If you want to get links for a single page, I'd suggest as folk will check you out, you may not get many takers as they'll prefer linking to entire subject portals than single pages.
Its the entire website that gives the value and captures the visitor - not just single pages.... An entire section devoted to the subject is best, its more content and gives you options the lesser sites wont have - giving you the advantage when link building.
I have 10.5k of pages, they only work as a combined unit. As single page websites, it would fail badly, but all pages combined as a service, it works like a dream. Subject portals/guides might be the way to go here as food is a hot subject with sites like Mydish likely sitting on thousands of free links.
I think a guide would work well on your site:
1. It will give your visitors useful info
2. Will pack it out with possibly serious content, depending on how you do this.
You need pagerank and links badly!
Suggest you hit your fave search engine and use keywords like: Wedding, Events blogs, Event directory, Wedding websites, Venue/s, Functions, Food websites etc etc, you get the idea I'm sure.
There's a few decent Restaurant websites/directories out there.
