Little help here. I'm creating a new service intended for no other reason than to be linkworthy from authority sites. And to get the word out about it, I intend to do press releases. Maybe even fire off stuff to industry magazines. I may actually get some coverage.
What are your thoughts on two things:
1) does anyone do this generally? I know there's crappy 'every 90 days' PR services, but I don't do that. How does one generalize news development while sticking to quality?
2) tips on getting newsworthy items out through traditional niche news sources (not the NY Times, more like the podunk niche industry news) like small magazines, monthly industry publications, etc?
Despite this being a 'new, first ever' service that I'm creating, I'm not doing it for the service. The point is strictly to get authority links from my niche, i.e. I expect industry orgs, gov't etc may link to me. Heck, might even get an honest link from DMOZ :).
