---- Removing reciprocal links

Had a question.

I have a website with a Google PR6. A while back, I exchanged links with a website that I thought had potential-it seemed like the webmaster was building a good site. In general it is a well put together site and seems informative. Right now that website also has a PR6 and is somewhat related to my theme.

I am considering removing the link and I am curious if that would be advisable.

In the past, I have tried to contact the webmaster, even sent material for his site but he never returned any emails. From my traffic logs, I have never received a hit from that site. Just today, I noticed a note on his site, asking if anyone would be interested in buying his domain name (and his PR6 ranking, traffic, etc)

My gut says drop him and send a note to him telling him, but I am wondering if I should keep it for the sake of the search engine ranking and Google PR. Anybody have any thoughts?
