Press releases - only when we have something significant to share
Social websites - engaging in Facebook, Twitter and others
Link baiting - writing a corporate blog & engaging in other blogs to share info
Manual outreach - old school link requests from related sites
Forum engagement - posting in deal forums
Contest promotion - posting in related contest forums
These are the kinds of ideas I'm looking for, anyone?
How much time and money will end up spending to accomplish this?
Instead of doing all these things poorly (and you won't be able do do them well if you are trying to do all of them), then why not just spend some money on Adwords, or on looking for affiliate sites to market your services, or advertising on related web sites?
Whatever path you take, make sure that your analytics software (and the people who are using it) are capable, otherwise you will throwing away money on things that don't get results.
