From time to time, I check the organic results in Google AdWords Preview Tool with web history turned off. In this case it was about popular keyword "widget" and I got curious about particular site on page 3 (24th result).
When I used Yahoo Site Explorer, oh boy, of 60-ish Inlinks shown, all of them were from comments from few blogs or from some member profiles. And when I checked some of those links I found that it was a dummy reply with link "widget reviews" pointing back to this site.
In addition, the name of the website is widgetreviews.com
Those links are all from blogs that accept any comments. For me, that's pure spam.
1. I wonder how this site could get even to #23 by doing this.
2. I see that the keyword is the actual domain name - is it true that Google puts a lot of weight onto this? I see sites with almost no content being among first 3 results, as long as they feature exact keywords as their domain name.
