I do the same, but I rarely look for links. I do it about once a month I keep adding to my site, and by the end of the month, a short time when Im happy with content, I'll go hunting for links As my site has changed, ill make a unique 'cut and paste' letter, which I hope sounds personal enough not to be a spam-like email I work down Google, i.e. type in biology and work my way down. I would say around 10% of the people I ask reply, and perhaps another 10% dont read the email because they dont maintain the site anymore. I guess another % are the wrong people at the site to contact, and dont follow through with my request. As for the other 70%, well, they probably didnt like my site or didnt bother with the effort required. Apart from that, good search engine listings 'should' = more webmasters linking to your relevant content The way I see it, its like the avalanche effect. In the beginning, the sole factor (i.e. you making the site) causes the avalanche. If this site carries clout, then who is to get in the way of your avalanche? :) rubbish analogy, but the principal is true :) happy cutting n pasting!:) Richard
lol and in the beginning I thought I was one of a small collection of people doing what your doingg mr villagee :)
