I think the implementation of your AdSense, like if there is a wall of ads at the top of the page and you have to scroll down to get to the content, might be an issue. That doesn't have to do with AdSense either. It could be a wall of ads from any network including YPN and even your own. It's just not user friendly so why would any directory want that?

The other issue could be the quality of your content. None of that has to do with AdSense. I have several free Yahoo directory listings for pages that have three AdSense blocks and affiliate links from CJ, Shareasale and Amazon all on the same page. But the high quality content is the main draw and none of the ads distract from the content.
