I had a huge sucess (for about a week, it's now a trickle...) when I used some free code for one of my sites. I e-mail the author of the code to say I modified it a bit and just ok the use and he then put on the article what I had done and a linked to my site.

For about a week 80% of my trafffic came from that site!

These days I get about 10-15% of my traffic from link partners.
